Concept

Fastlane has been designed to provide a solution to the common problems faced by the modern business environment, such as the need for quick unhindered access for staff and visitors, while protecting assets, information and personnel from the dangers of unauthorised entry, in an aesthetic environment.

Fastlane is a state of the art ‘optical’ turnstile, which replaces the need for an intrusive physical/mechanical barrier by utilising active infrared beams to create an invisible electronic field between two pedestals. Fastlane monitors the passage of every individual entering and leaving the facility, only alerting security staff to the presence of unauthorised entrants. Clients and employees alike pass through Fastlane’s channels with speed and safety whilst all unauthorised entry attempts are identified.

Secure

Fastlane functions automatically and will alert security staff to all unauthorised entry attempts by triggering an audible alarm and controlling other security measures such as lighting, activating CCTV systems and locking doors. Fastlane will activate an alarm in the event of an illegal action i.e. if an unauthorised person attempts to enter and also detects the following: -

Tailgating - People who attempt to enter without a valid access card by following closely behind an authorised cardholder.

Collusion & Obstruction – Fastlane alarms when two individuals actively collude to gain entry with a single card, or where beams are deliberately blocked.

Pass-back – Helps to enforce the ‘one card, one person, one direction’ rule, assisting the access control system to maintain ‘anti-passback’ integrity.

Non-entry – Fastlane can detect when a card is presented but a person does not pass through the channel.

User-friendly

The absence of a  physical barrier ensures fast throughput (up to one person per second) and unrestricted movement for all personnel, with safe disabled access and emergency egress. Users are greeted by an intuitive user interface, in the form of a clear electronic text display, which automatically guides the user through entry and exit. The text display is programmable for alternative messages in different languages, allowing companies to offer a personal welcome to staff and visitors. A unique software package is provided to vary Fastlane’s sensitivity and to tailor the system to the demands of different operating environments.

Versatile

Fastlane’s primary use is for access control environments which require a similar level of security as a traditional half height turnstile, but desire the highest level of tailgate detection and discreet aesthetics that only Fastlane can offer. The accuracy of Fastlane’s sensors enable it to provide on-line population figures providing total and real time occupancy levels. When the total reaches a pre-set target the system can activate an alarm to warn of impending capacity and be configured to allow movement in a single direction only (exit or entry only), thus automatically controlling building population. In stand-alone mode, Fastlane can be used to control areas where only entry or exit is allowed. If a person goes in the wrong direction Fastlane will alert security.

Easy Installation

Fastlane has been designed with easy installation and low maintenance in mind and can be integrated into any existing access control or building management system to be used in conjunction with most card reading technologies. A quick release base plate ensures simple installation and allows for the quick temporary removal of the pedestals for large deliveries or renovation work.
